This is what to expect from our new yoga series...
"Our goal in life is not to become perfect: our goal is to become whole".
When people think of physical forms of activity and movement, what comes to mind is a dynamic, active practice designed to work the muscular half of the body, otherwise known as "Yang" movement. Yin yoga is the other half to Yang.
When there is a balance of daily between the two, a state of equilibrium and peace can be reached which then allows us to work the other half, the deeper "yin" tissues of our ligaments, joints, deep fascial networks, and our bones.
What to expect:
• Lots of time to explore sensations, time to learn the appropriate depth for you in each posture, time to develop the habits of attending, noticing, and making appropriate decisions.
• Explore your the edges, where resistance arises.
This resistance may be physical, emotional , and psychological but all forms of edges needed to explore in order for optimal growth and healing to occur.
It's not about how fast, how "much" you can do, but the intention and quality of "how" things are done that creates strong and able bodies.
By building on foundations built on excellence not speed, we minimize poor habits, pain, and injury that can be otherwise avoided.This is one reason that yin yoga is so beneficial; you are provided time to get to know your body, what it needs, and what it does not need and "then" we can pick up speed after we create that neural connection between mind and body.
